Why there is no time like the present to invest in a new comfort system
from Link Mechanical Services, Inc.

…And understanding the misconceptions of investing in a new comfort system
.

MISCONCEPTION #1: “I should keep my existing system until it breaks.”

You may be sorry you did. You see it’s not a good idea to keep your existing system if it is over 10 years old for air conditioning or 15 years for heating. A new system will be less expensive to operate and will provide reliability and better comfort on the hottest and coldest days of the year without worry. Plus, you will have warranty protection for further peace of mind.

Furthermore, an older furnace may cause a potentially dangerous and harmful condition in your home. The heat exchanger (the heart of your heating system) wears out much like at set of tires on your car but from the inside out due to the burners firing on and off and causing the metal to expand and contract. So it’s harder to detect when it may wear out. A 15-year-old furnace is like a set of tires with 45,000 miles on them. However, a crack or hole in your heat exchanger can allow odorless, colorless, deadly carbon monoxide gas to enter your living environment. So operating an older furnace can be as dangerous and life threatening as taking your family out for a drive on a set of bald tires. You wouldn’t do that now would you?

MISCONCEPTION #2: “My system is still working efficiently.”

Not by today’s standards. Today’s efficiency standards are much higher than just a few years ago, so a new system could reduce your energy consumption by 30-60%. A certified Home Comfort Expert can perform an energy analysis to give you a more exact figure for your particular home and application. This utility overpayment will be tax-free energy savings back in your pocket.

MISCONCEPTION #3: “I don’t want to pay a high interest rate if I decide to finance a my system.”

The interest rate shouldn’t be your only consideration when deciding whether or not to invest in a new comfort system. In fact, the return on your investment alone dictates that a prudent investment plan (financing) or “OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY” (OPM) be used to acquire and own it; rather than taking the money out of your pocket or other investments. In this way, we make owning a new system TODAY easy and affordable for everyone, since we can fit any budget with flexible payment arrangements. Now EVERYONE can have the system they want and deserve (not the one you inherited and have been stuck with since you bought the house)...because let's face it, sooner or later you are going to have replace your old, energy wasting system…wouldn't you agree? It just makes good sense to own it today and pay less than you would if you kept what you have and invested more in energy and maintenance dollars, repair costs and inflation (when you finally do decide to purchase a new system). A new system has an immediate positive effect on your out-of-pocket expenditures and most importantly your comfort. The truth of the matter is that you are already paying for a new system (by keeping your old one) you just don't own it yet. In fact, the utility will actually be paying for all or some or your new system since you will no longer be paying those outrageous energy bills.

When we talk about using “OPM,” I know what you’re thinking…”What’s the interest rate?” The reality of the situation is that interest rates should not be your only consideration. Sure, as with any loan you are going to pay some interest, but you’ll be able offset your monthly investment by the savings your new system offers. In addition, inflation makes owning a new system today cheaper than buying one tomorrow. With the economy being in tremendous surge, who knows what may happen tomorrow, or next year for that matter? Why be caught behind enemy lines after the war has begun? Isn’t it better to plan and be prepared for an attack?

MISCONCEPTION #4: “I have the money, so I am just going to pay cash or write a check for my new system.”

Even if you have the money available to invest in a new system, it does not make good business sense to write a check for the entire purchase. Keep your money in whatever interest-bearing investment you have, and use one of our convenient financing plans as leverage to your advantage over time. The cost savings with your new system will outweigh any interest you pay over time. In fact, we realize that the average American has $3000 between their checking and savings accounts (according to Consumer Affairs) without tapping into any long-term savings and investment plans they may have. While this is true it makes absolutely no sense to wipe out your “liquid money” and put it into a new comfort system even if this money is set-aside for such “rainy days” or emergencies. Keep your money where it is and save it for true emergency. A new comfort system will pay for itself, even if it is an unplanned purchase or emergency, and allow you to have the peace of mind knowing your money will be there when you need it.

MISCONCEPTION #5: “ I don’t have the money to invest in a new comfort system right now.”

Actually, to some extent this may be a true statement. Your utility company has it since you have been overpaying them for sometime now. By investing in a new comfort system today, you will recoup that “lost money” and be able to afford your new comfort system. In reality, you may be able to own a new comfort system with taking little to no money out of your pocket. You may even be able to put tax-free money back into your pocket. Ask your personal Home Comfort Expert how.

MISCONCEPTION #6: “I cannot/will not/should not make a decision the today.”

MISCONCEPTION #7: “I need to get other bids.”

You can be sure you are getting the right system for the lowest possible investment. Finding the best comfort system to meet all your needs and budget can be confusing, frustrating, and time consuming. Most of the people we meet with do not even know how to begin to compare systems and brands to one another let alone service providers and installing companies…And we wouldn’t expect them to. This is not their area of expertise, it’s ours. We wouldn’t pretend to be experts in your profession, so you shouldn’t need to be one in ours. That’s why we regularly “shop” our competition to make sure we are delivering the best value for our customer’s investment dollar. Our Investment Guarantee assures you of this.

Also, please bear in mind that usually it is not what is on a proposal for a new comfort system that is more important, than what is NOT on the agreement that makes the biggest difference when it comes to total customer happiness and years of worry-free operation. The installation workmanship accounts for up to 70% of any job according Consumer Reports, while equipment selection and brands only comprise approximately 20% of the outcome of a successful installation. Quality, craftsmanship, the little fine-tuning extras, and service after the sale cannot be illustrated on paper. Be sure to check references, the Better Business Bureau, and ask to see before and after photos of completed recently completed installations.

MISCONCEPTION #8: “I should only consider price when investing in a new comfort system.”

You may regret it. If cheap is what you want, cheap is what you will probably get. According to the American Lung Association, most people spend up to 90% of their time indoors, with the majority of that time being spent in their home. The system responsible for allowing your house to breathe and keep you healthy, safe, secure, and comfortable should not be where you begin to cut corners with your budget. Incidentally, most people today buy a car that is air conditioned without giving a thought to the fact that the air conditioner for their car cost between $1500 and $2000, and then only spend less than 5% of their time driving it and enjoying its comfort. Truth be told, the air conditioner for your car, that you paid up to $2000 for would probably only cool your powder room or a small bathroom in your house.

You are not paying for a product; you are paying for what it delivers (or not) and your ultimate happiness, comfort, peace of mind, safety, security, health and welfare, energy savings, etc. This is your true economic cost of ownership in a new comfort system. Besides, we remove and reverse all the risk to our company with our Investment Guarantee and 100% Happiness Guarantee.

MISCONCEPTION #9: “Which brand is best?”

Every brand has its good points and bad points, and no one brand is right for every application, budget, or customer. We deal with every major manufacturer to negotiate the best possible prices on their equipment. We then look at each customer’s comfort concerns, application, equipment capacity and efficiency required, etc. before determining which brand to offer and install. Most contractors carry one or two brands, so which one do you think they will tell you is the best…and if they happen to switch brands, guess which one they will tell you is the best?

At the end of the day and installation, you want to rest assured that the system delivers upon its design specifications and that you are comfortable and saving the energy dollars you expected. Our 100% Happiness Guarantee provides you with total recourse should the system not deliver as promised and expected.

MISCONCEPTION #10: “You are just going to try to sell me the most expensive things you can.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, we recommend to 90% of our customers that they do not buy the most expensive comfort system we have to offer, since it is not in their best interest from an investment perspective.

As the efficiency of the equipment increases so does your investment. However, the majority of your energy savings are going to from upgrading your old inefficient system to a system that carries an efficiency rating between 12.0 and 14.0 (about 90% of possible savings since equipment is available with efficiency ratings up to 16.0 S.E.E.R.).

Your investment in a properly sized system designed to meet your comfort concerns and application will allow you to maximize your budget and enhance the comfort the system provides by adding accessories and/or services designed to improve the level of comfort in your home.

Our Total Security Guarantees assure you complete happiness with you investment.
